Sponsors rarely get more than publicity out of their input to an event, but Philip Johnston, of the Coppermines & Lakes Cottages, ended up as one of the prize winners in Windermere Cruising Association's Winter Series. After the final race in the 11-race series Mr Johnston's own boat, Dark And Stormy was second overall. Series winner was Steve Goacher, winner of numerous National, European and World championships, in his Cork 1720 Goacher Sails. James Longden, in Limbo 6.6, Wizard was third. There were 46 yachts in the series with competitors from throughout the UK taking part. The crews of the three winning boats are pictured at the prizegiving.

01/12/2007 - NEW - Turners Cottage - Spark Bridge
A small Victorian stone whitewashed cottage in the Crake Valley, three miles south of Coniston Water, in the hamlet of Spark Bridge, close to the well-known "Royal Oak". Economically priced and ideal for a couple looking for a small hide-away!
The cottage, which is traditionally decorated, was originally part of the last working Lakeland bobbin mill, and was sympathetically refurbished several years ago. It has an open log fire, exposed beams, original period features and a four poster bed.
